Hi everyone,

I wanted to spend some time talking about what I’m planning for 2022 for the blog.

I have a lot of ideas I’m excited about and a lot of projects I would like to finish up.

Overall I think 2021 was a good year for me so I would like to continue that energy into 2022.

A Paid Blog and Better Analytics

Last year I really wanted to get a paid WordPress theme and domain but that didn’t happen due to ~money~ but this year I’m hoping to make it a thing for real.

I’m also planning on upgrading my analytics to Google Analytics. I’ve been having trouble connecting the blog to their system so that’s why I’ve still been using the WordPress analytics.

Hopefully I’ll get that figured out soon.

Finishing converting posts to audio content

Since you can only convert the blog posts to audio via the computer and both my laptops are currently too slow to load anything, I haven’t been able to work on this project lately.

Next month I’m planning on getting a new MacBook laptop instead and hopefully that will be good. My current laptops still work, they’re just extremely slow and I don’t have the patience for that.

I’m also going to be looking into getting a mic so that I can record original audio content and not just recorded blog posts.

A Blogging Schedule

I used to have themed blog posts on my old blog and that really kept me consistent. I haven’t done that on this blog yet because I still have a lot of random content I’m working through.

I currently have a backlog of 300+ separate posts to make that aren’t even contingent on things like monthly posts or book reviews, etc.

I just have to sit down and write them.

Currently here’s a list of topics I think I could create. Note that this is for a daily basis but I would need to sit down and write a lot a head of time. I might start off with some themed posts twice a week.

  • Book Reviews
  • Book Cover Reviews
  • Publishing News
  • Writing Advice
  • Blog Post Round Ups
  • What I wrote
  • Random Posts

Other topics I would like to cover on a regular basis is media literacy. I studied journalism and design in college so being able to critically read the news is important to me.

Beyond that, there’s blog memes I can participate in more frequently so I think there’s plenty of content out there for me to be regularly posting more often.

Revamping Blog Graphics

I’m planning on getting a Canva subscription at some point since I’m going to be losing my Adobe products with the new computer.

Once I get that, I’m planning on making new graphics for all the old blog posts and new ones going forward.

I’ll also be sharing them on Pinterest more often and I’ll probably be more active on Instagram as well.

Along with putting in new blog graphics, any other pictures I have included I’ll be going back through to include better meta descriptions and alt text.

More Regular Content on Bookstagram

I haven’t been good about posting regularly to Instagram lately but I plan on getting back into that more.

I was getting nervous about running out of books to share but now that I live so close to the library, I can pop over there more frequently.

I might also try creating reels and Tiktoks and getting a set up for that. My roommate has a ring light and I’ve been thinking about getting one as well.

In my personal life I would like to be better at creating and editing video but again, I probably need a better computer for that so we’ll see.

Original Book Reviews

I’m finally finishing up importing content from my old blog to this one so I’ll be starting to focus on actually reading and publishing original book reviews.

My goal is to read 25 books this year. I know that’s not as much as some people but I’ve been overwhelmed since college and haven’t been reading as frequently as I used to.

However, now I don’t really have an excuse not to since I’m so close to the library!

I’m also trying to decide if I should create a new kindle account or if I should get Kindle Unlimited. I haven’t looked into it that much but I am considering it.

I think I might also look into a book subscription box. My roommate gets Book of the Month and I think she likes it a lot.

I’ve also started going back to book clubs so I think I will get some more interesting books from those groups as well to talk about here.

Do you have any goals you’re looking forward to for 2022?
