This week I’m publishing a late blog post round-up. I’ve been meaning to do these for a while but I keep forgetting.

Most of these posts have already been out for several weeks so if you’ve already read them, I apologize but hope you enjoy anyways. They certainly made my feed a bit brighter!

Why Reading “Mindless” Books Is So Important to Me by Paper Procrastinators

I think they made a great point about how it’s important to read books for pleasure and enjoyment and not just to fulfill some learning requirement. I think too many people in school are forced to read books they don’t like and end up never wanting to read another book again.

For me, one of the books I’d call a mindless read is Seventeenth Summer by Maureen Daly. I’ve always loved this book for how “boring” it is. There’s basically no conflict and so it’s a great book for me to relax with. But I know a lot of modern readers hate it.

Does Book Twitter Actually Reflect the Reading Community? by the orangutan librarian

I think this was a really interesting post because I’ve been active again the book twitter community. I think that book twitter isn’t totally reflective of the community. I wonder how many people actually follow authors and book bloggers on there vs say Youtube or Instagram. For authors, I think it’s important to take Book Twitter with a grain of salt. Especially those who focus on building a following, I think we have a tendacy to follow a lot of other authors and book bloggers but not always reach our audience.

This was such a cute post and really nice as I’m not very good at Instagram. Which is funny because I went to school for graphic design.

Review: Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore by YA on my Mind

I always love seeing other reviews of books I have enjoyed in the past or hated. This was a book that I remember having mixed feelings on, especially since I really liked the other too. It had also been such a long time since I read the first two that when Bitterblue came out, I had to go back and remind myself of the first two. Thankfully they’re mostly stand alone books.

WHY I BELIEVE BOOK BLOGGERS SHOULD GET PAID by drizzle and hurricane books

I think they have a lot of great points, especially about how creators on other platforms are getting paid so bloggers should as well. I think book bloggers are really talented and it takes a lot of hard work.

Book bloggers also usually start out because they love books and I think they do a lot for authors that should be recognized.

How I Write My Book Reviews by your tita kate

I always love seeing how other people write their book reviews as I’ve been considering making a method to mine so that I can write them faster and easier. I love that she seeks other opinions before writing her blog posts which is something I normally don’t do! I usually try to avoid reviews and other opinions until after I’ve written mine in order for it to help be less biased.

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong – DNF eARC Mini Book Review by a little haze book blog

I think they had some really great points about ARCs coming with content warnings. I know a couple of friends who have had their books rejected by bloggers for content reasons. Nothing bad should be reflected on anyone for these situations but I know I would really love to see more trigger warnings on books.

I don’t get triggered super often but there is some kinds of content I try to avoid if I know about it ahead of time.
